The guys at ‘Traction Wars’, a World War II modification for ‘Crysis’, have released a new update previewing the British Sten Mk.II submachine gun and two versions of the German M42 Stielhandgranate. Go here for more renders and historical information about both weapons.
‘Battlegroup Frontlines’ are previewing a behemoth, the German Panzerkampfwagen Tiger I Ausf. E Late, a heavy tank that became one of the most feared of World War II. They’re also throwing in some screenshots of a smaller and not quite so fearsome vehicle, the KdF-Wagen or Volkswagen Beetle. Check them both out here.

‘Battlegroup Frontlines’ is a modification for ‘Battlefield 2′.
Airplane aficionados will love this new update from ‘Battlegroup 42′, as it contains renders of two classic aircraft from World War II: the P-51D Mustang and the Ilyushin IL-2M. Both will be included in the upcoming v1.7 version of the mod. The BG42 team have also re-worked their website, and added a content list which contains all vehicles, planes and stationary weapons already included in the mod, so go there and check it all out!

An update has been released by the ‘Forgotten Hope 2′ team revealing that they are working on a new patch for the mod. The patch will focus on adding more maps to their Normandy Theater of War, but it will also introduce more weapons and vehicles, some of which – like the British Bedford QL truck and Crusader III AA Mk III tank above – you can see in this preview. The ‘Battlegroup Frontlines’ WWII modification for ‘Battlefield 2′ has, after a long hiatus, re-started development and is now being focused on the latter part of the war on the Eastern Front. Starting with the resolution of the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943 the BGF team will recreate the Soviet advance westwards until we reach the Battle of Berlin (1945). ‘Resistance & Liberation’ is a World War II modification for ‘Half-Life 2′ (or any other Source game). The team has just released a new map preview of what looks like Brécourt Manor, most famously depicted in the Band of Brothers miniseries. In the assault a group of thirteen soldiers under the command of 1st Lt. Richard Winters attacked a superior force of entrenched German soldiers, destroying the four howitzers that was firing down on Utah Beach and killing or capturing thirty-two of the enemy. ‘Festung Breslau’ is a modification for ‘Mount & Blade’ based on the 82-day Soviet Siege of German-controlled Breslau (Polish: Wrocław) during the final months of World War II. We’ve already seen videos of planes in the mod, and now there is an early presentation vid up on YouTube of a German tank moving across a battlefield:

‘Forgotten Hope 2′ v2.2 is getting released today at 18:00 UTC, but you can get a head start by downloading the torrent right now. The torrent is passworded, so you can install it straight away when they release the password later today.
Thompson Submachine Gun 3d Iron Sights
It looks like masses of new stuff has been added to this new version of FH2, including 3d iron sights (as opposed to 2d, as before), a physics overhaul of all the planes in the mod, a reworking of the tank damage and armour system, five new soldier models, seven new maps, thirty-five new vehicles and the same number of new weapons, as well as the train you can see below:

Hello and welcome to another update of Traction Wars. This month we have some Work-in-Progress renders of the British Sten Mk.II by Naga, we announce the first of the many exciting features you can expect in Traction Wars & give you a sneak peek at a mystery map in production by Solidsnake.
Firstly though we would like to welcome Bob_Bobber0 to the team as our new SFX artists. We look forward to showing you some of his noisy contributions in the future.
The Sten emerged while Britain was engaged in the Battle of Britain, facing invasion by Germany. The army was forced to replace weapons lost during the evacuation from Dunkirk while expanding at the same time. Prior to 1941 the British were purchasing all the Thompson submachine guns they could from the United States, but this did not begin to meet demand and when in 1941 the United States joined the war the overall demand for Thompson vastly outstretched the supply. The Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield was commissioned by the British Government to produce much cheaper alternative. The sten was very easy and fast to produce as many of the parts were made from pressed steel and only minimal welding was required. The Mk.II was an even more minimal design with both the flash eliminator & hand grip removed.
This month Naga has also overhauled our website to include much more information about the mod and to announce some of the many features which will be in the mod.
