davide.cool is back with another historical battle map for ‘Medieval II: Total War – Kingdoms’ (although this is a fictional one unlike his last Battle of Thermopylae map) featuring the Incas (or Mayans, in-game) and Spanish in a battle to control the Lost City of the Incas. The Incas have to defend their last refuge, while the Conquistadors have to meet an initial ferocious attack before they can advance up the mountain and take the city. The battle is set in 1570, and the map has been manually created. Read more, and download, here.

«Over two hundred years have passed since the Viking Age of Britain portrayed in Viking Invasion II, and the Dark Ages are coming to an end. Norman Invasion starts in the year AD 1066. William, Duke of Normandy, has landed his troops at Pevensey bay and King Harold II of England has just arrived at Hastings, fresh from victory at Stamford Bridge, to hurl the Normans back into the English Channel.»

If you’ve always wanted to kick the Normans back into the English Channel, or extend the Harrowing of the North to be an island-wide event, then ‘Norman Invasion’ is the mod you have been waiting for! Play as the invading Normans or the defending Anglo-Saxons and decide the future of England. Three minor factions are also playable: the Norse, the Welsh, & the Scots. Download here!

«The historic mod “Rus – 13 century” reconstructs the events of this dramatic and heroic age. You can unite the forces of Russian princedoms and give battle to the Horde, or gather the Novgorod militia and warmly greet the Order knights on the ice and snow of the northern lands. You can feel yourself a warrior of the Horde, a vassal of the Teutonic Landmeister, or become a proud shlachta and fight for the glory of Kingdom of Poland.»

‘Rus: XIII Century’ is a historical modification for ‘Mount & Blade’. Some fans requested more swords in the mod, and – lo! – swords are what they got, as ConstantA from the team posted these detailed renders. There is an English Beta of the mod out which can be downloaded here – more info can be found on their website or in the mod’s thread on taleworlds.com.

«Dominion of the Sword is an ambitious project aimed at making a Supermod, we have a large team made up of several contributing mods as well as our own dedicated staff. The mod aims to maximise the possibilities in the M2TW engine to make a game with realism, historical accuracy and playability. Most of all we are concentrating on an atmospheric and fully immersible experience of medieval warfare and rulership.»

Knížecí Družina (Prince's Suit)
The guys from ‘Dominion of the Sword’ (a mod which we, incidentally, recently interviewed) are showcasing their early era units for Bohemia. Four units are previewed with screenshots and historical background information, and some images of a battle being joined have also been posted. Check them all out here, and move on to the DotS forum to see all the previous previews.

‘Magna Mundi Platinum’ v1.1 is a modification for ‘Europa Universalis III: In Nomine’ aiming to «lead the game through historical processes to allow the game to flow freely within the constraints faced historically … creating plausible alternate realities». It also attempts to create a vibrant game world (and by all accounts succeeds) via detailed systems, such as those for vassalization and warfare. MMP’s features include plagues, civil wars, succession wars, in-depth religion, personal unions and many, many more.
You can download the ‘Magna Mundi Platinum’ manual here if you want to read more about the mod, or go to the release thread to download the mod itself.

A couple of helmets have been previewed for ‘The Song of Taliesin’ mod for ‘Mount & Blade’, including the Briton Helmet you see a render of below. Named after a renowned British poet who lived in the 6th Century, SoT aims to bring the British Isles of the Early Middle Ages (or Dark Ages) to life.

«The Mod Deus lo Vult (DLV) 6.2 is a CIVlike enhancement for Medieval Total War II Kingdoms, giving the player the possibility to write his personal history and requiring a lot more strategic thinking during game play.»

German Charge
‘Deus lo Vult’ (translation: God Wills It) has been updated to version 6.2. It adds, among other things, new units, courtesy of the ‘Complete Byzantine Unit Roster Project’ & ‘Rusichi: Total War’, davide.cool’s better grass & flowers, and tweaks to the economic system. You can download the full build and patch here, read the DLV strategy guide here, or visit the mod’s forum here.

«Starting in 620 AD and going all the way to 1050 AD, featuring new factions, map and units, the mod focuses on the Saxons’ domination of today´s England over the Brithons in the dark ages, the Irish golden age, the Pictish struggle against the Strychklyde confederation and in its late era the emerging factions of the Norse and the Danes.»

Hadrian's Wall
The ‘Vacuus Lux Lucis’ team have released a preview giving an overview of the mod, giving us a nice idea of what VLL is about and where it’s heading. The preview includes some background information on the factions, playable and emergent, their emblems, and some of their units. There is also an image showing the extent of the map and all its regions, and campaign map models such as Hadrian’s Wall and Stonehenge. You can check it all out here!
