Mount & Blade: Ogniem i Mieczem (Fire and Sword) Banner

I’ve been able to dig up (with the aid of Google translate and a link posted on taleworlds.net) some screenshots of the recently announced ‘Mount & Blade: Ogniem i Mieczem’ (With Fire and Sword in English, or Огнём и мечом in Russian). This standalone game based on the M&B engine is inspired by Henryk Sienkiewics trilogy of historical novels – With Fire and Sword (1884), The Deluge (1886), & Fire in the Steppe (1888) – set in the Poland during the 17th Century. You can find more images of the game in this thread (Russian forum).

Mount & Blade: Ogniem i Mieczem Interview

Posted by: Amroth    in Mount & Blade

Mount & Blade: Ogniem i Mieczem (Fire and Sword) Banner

A journalist from the Polish site gamecorner.pl has managed to get CD Projekt’s managing director, Michael Gembicki, to answer some questions about ‘Mount & Blade: Ogniem i Mieczem’, which was just recently announced. The interview reveals that although the game is based on the M&B engine, it will be completely separate from that game and Warband (although updates to the engine introduced in the latter will, apparently, be introduced to M&B:OiM as well). According to Gembicki, the major factor that separates the two games is the multi-threaded storyline which will change depending on the player’s actions and decisions.

Other interesting tidbits include the fact that OiM will be as modifiable as regular M&B, that they will add historical battles, and that there will be some modifications to the siege system. You can read the entire interview here (English Google translation here).

A new game, ‘Mount & Blade: Ogniem i Mieczem’ (translates as With Fire and Sword), has just been announced. The game uses the M&B engine, and apparently started development as a mod. It seems to be based on the historical novel of the same name by author Henryk Sienkiewicz. Here’s the trailer that was just released:

And an announcement from Polish publisher CDProjekt, via Polish fansite mountblade.info (translation courtesy of Google Translate):

CD Projekt is pleased to announce the official launch of the game Mount & Blade: Fire and Sword, which will hit stores this autumn! Already in November Polish players will be able to write a new chapter in one of the most interesting and most turbulent times in the history of our country. All this thanks to the developers of Russian studios Snowberry Connection and the Ukrainian Sich Studio and its cooperation with Turkish TaleWorlds Entertainment.

Illustrates the ideas published preview, which we see in action perhaps the most famous Polish military formation, or hussars. There are guns, horses, swords and skirmishes on spectacular shots.

This action game puts you in the bloody conflict torn areas of the former Commonwealth of time, “Blood” and “Fire and Sword”. In these troubled times of war against each other in a battle for dominance in the region become the world power then. Swaying in the foundations, but still strong Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, growing with each day in the power of Tsarist Russia, modern and hungry new areas of Sweden, a wild, unbridled Cossack Ukraine and the Crimean Khanate – the eternal enemy of the whole of Christian Europe.

The game was based on a revolutionary system and matches the award-winning and highly valued by the players production of Mount & Blade, a game which by the magazine was “Surprise of the Year 2008″ and the readers chose her website gamecorner.pl game in 2008.

Key features of Fire and Sword:

  • Open world game where the player fully guides their destiny and where you can change the history of Poland and Europe!
  • Unique system of combat arms and firearms and a well-placed model riding
  • Rich and full of references to Sienkiewicz’s trilogy of the game’s universe, full of familiar characters from the independent film by Jerzy Hoffman, and books by Henryk Sienkiewicz.
