Empire: Total War - The Warpath Campaign Banner

Two new DLCs, ‘The Warpath Campaign’ and the previously unannounced ‘Special Forces Units & Bonus Content’, have been made available for ‘Empire: Total War’. The first of the two adds five new American Indian factions (the Iroquois, Huron, Plains, Pueblo & Cherokee nations), a more detailed map of North America, and more units, buildings and technologies to go with the new factions. You can read more about TWC on CA’s official page for it, or check it out on Steam. Steam are also having an Empire Week, with 50% off ETW until October 12th at 10 AM PST.

All released screenshots for TWC can be found here, click here to see the trailer, and some great artwork by Björn Hurri is here.

‘Special Forces Units & Bonus Content’ is a DLC which came as a surprise, as no one knew it was going to be released (or perhaps it was there all along and I never noticed it until it was updated). It makes available all the extra units from ‘Empire: Total War – Special Forces Edition’, and adds three more. It is available, as are all the add-ons, exclusively from Steam. The units added are (first six from SFE):

  • HMS Victory — The Royal Navy’s most distinguished and formidable first rate ship of the line; Lord Nelson’s 104 gun flagship is one of the most heavily armed ships of the 18th Century. This unit is available when playing as the British faction and your technology has sufficiently advanced.
  • Rogers’ Rangers — Major Robert Rogers’ company of rangers are highly trained elite light infantry, specializing in reconnaissance and special operations. They are extremely mobile in even the most challenging environments. This unit is available when playing as the British faction and your technology has sufficiently advanced.
  • Ottoman Organ Gun — A viciously powerful field gun, able to inflict incredible damage on the opposing army. Emphatic proof of the Ottoman Empire’s advanced knowledge of gunpowder and firearms technology. This unit is available when playing as the Ottoman faction and your technology has sufficiently advanced.
  • Ghoorkas — “Better to die than be a coward” has been the motto of these elite Nepalese soldiers for centuries. Disciplined, tough and courageous, they carry a deadly 18-inch long, curved knife known as the kukri. This unit is available when controlling the Kashmir territory.
  • Corso Terrestre Guerillas — An independent light infantry guerrilla regiment, experienced in skirmish and stealth tactics. Surprise raids and ambushes are the guerillas’ favored tactics, a way to compensate for their limited number and light armor. This unit is available when playing as the Spanish faction and your technology has sufficiently advanced.
  • Bulkeley’s Regiment — A French unit of Irish mercenaries with a fearsome reputation for hardiness. Exceptionally tough and resilient, they make for a highly flexible and dependable regiment. This unit is available when playing as the French faction and your technology has sufficiently advanced.
  • Death’s Head Hussars — The Prussian army’s bravest and fiercest cavalry is trained to deliver devastating volleys of musket fire while closing on the enemy. These daring charges strike fear into even the most stalwart of opponents. This unit is available when playing as Prussia and your technology has sufficiently advanced.
  • The USS Constitution — The legendary heavy frigate of the United States Navy, used to great effect in capturing enemy ships and running down fleeing opponents. Fast and heavily-armed, the pinnacle of 18th Century US Navy power. This unit is available when playing as the USA and your technology has sufficiently advanced. It may also be captured by opposing factions.
  • The Dahomey Amazons — An elite female-only military regiment from West Africa. Disciplined both in rifle drills and close combat, they are rightly feared for their incredible courage and their practice of decapitating their captives. This unit is available when holding territory in North Africa.

Magna Mundi Platinum Banner ‘Magna Mundi Platinum’ v1.1 is a modification for ‘Europa Universalis III: In Nomine’ aiming to «lead the game through historical processes to allow the game to flow freely within the constraints faced historically … creating plausible alternate realities». It also attempts to create a vibrant game world (and by all accounts succeeds) via detailed systems, such as those for vassalization and warfare. MMP’s features include plagues, civil wars, succession wars, in-depth religion, personal unions and many, many more.

United Provinces Retexture Project Banner

Some guys over at TWC got tired of the bland and unhistorical unit lineup available to the United Provinces in vanilla ‘Empire: Total War’ – and decided to do something about it! That decision has now resulted in the release of the ‘United Provinces Retexture Project’ v1.1, a mod which retextures the original UP lineup so that it is more distinctive and true to history, and also adds several new units. There are two versions of the mod available: the Full Edition, and the Light Edition which only contains the retextures and no new units.
