Europa Barbarorum II Getai Banner

«Europa Barbarorum was started to more accurately represent the barbarian factions in Rome – Total War as more than unwashed hordes but quickly expanded into accurate representations of all of the factions. Over the X years that EB has existed, EB has completely remade the Rome – Total War game with the goal of historical accuracy and fair representations of all factions. With the completion of Europa Barbarorum Version 1.1, the team has moved on to the M2TW engine to recreate the Roman Era with the new features available therein.»

The latest preview for ‘Hegemony 268 B.C.’ features the troops for famous Germanic tribes such as the Cherusci, Sweboz and Chatti. Their names look impossible to pronounce, and what they mean I have no idea, but they look fantastic and capable of kicking ass. The preview can be found here.

Roma Surrectum v1.6 Banner

Rome arises once more with the release of ‘Roma Surrectum’ v1.6, and it does so with better and more varied battlefields. This new version of the mod is focused on giving us the best battle map experience the ‘Rome: Total War’ engine can provide, and the RS team have worked hard on improving the often bland and uninspiring terrain found in the original game. To achieve this they have added new ground textures, trees, & grasses, and they have also delved into the secrets of battle map creation to produce a more interesting topography. Other features include a new provincial campaign where you can play as the Senate, a re-working of the campaign balance, Greek generals made by Spirit of Rob and new victory conditions. Everything can be read about it more detail in the release thread.

The officers shown represent a wide variety of tribes who thrived while Rome’s power was on the decline, and include the Visigoths, famed for their role in the Battle of Chalons, and the Vandals, who claimed Carthage as their home. Check out the preview here. Unfortunately the team don’t have a forum of their own yet, but if you show enough interest they just might get one.
