Hegemony 268 B.C. - Helmets Banner

A new faction preview showcasing Carthage has been released for ‘Hegemony 268 B.C.’, a modification for ‘Mount & Blade’ that is set in the Greco-Roman world of the Hellenistic Era. The Carthaginian troops are all divided into different sections, such as the regional Balearic, Numidian & Libyan arms, and every unit is given its moment in the spotlight in the screenshots posted here.

Punic: Total War Banner

‘Punic: Total War’ is a modification for ‘Rome: Total War’ which aims to recreate the Punic Wars (three wars fought between Rome and Carthage in the 3rd and 2nd centuries A.D.). The mod team has just released a preview of the maps for the first two campaigns, which I assume will feature the First Punic War & the Second Punic War. The first map centers around the island of Sicily, surrounded by small portions of mainland Italy, Northern Africa, Malta and Sardinia. The second map is larger and stretches from the Iberian Peninsula in the west to Greece in the east, and from Gaul in the north to North Africa in the south. There are loads of screenshots to be found here!

The team behind ‘Rome: Total Realism VII – Fate of Empires’ are back with a new preview featuring the factions of Carthage and Iberia:

«Welcome to the sixth and last of our faction based FOE Previews. To complete our look at the factions featured in the FOE campaign we are reprising our Carthaginian and Iberian friends from TIC. While most of the units will be familiar to you, there are a couple of surprises. One of these, is the late Punic Reform African Infantry Unit.»

Carthaginian Sacred Band Cavalry

As with most RTR previews, this one contains a wealth of historical information on the factions and their units, as well as numerous screenshots and renders. Of the units we get a closer look at my personal favourites are the Sacred Band Cavalry (as seen above) and the Lusitanian Caetrati. You can find the entire preview here.

RTR is, as its name suggests, a mod (or mods) aimed at making ‘Rome: Total War’ and its expansion pack ‘Barbarian Invasion’ more realistic – but that’s really only the beginning of it, and the changes & improvements are too many to list. If you can’t wait to play FoE after reading through the awesome preview, then I suggest downloading either ‘RTR VI Platinum Edition’ for RTW v1.5, or ‘RTR VII – The Iberian Conflict’ for BI v1.6. Head over to their website or forum to find out more about the mod.
