‘300 Warlords of Sparta’ has been one of the most anticipated mods for ‘Rome: Total War – Alexander’ since … well, since it was announced, truth be told. And now it’s here! Ready to be downloaded! And played!
As most will no doubt infer from the name of the mod alone, Warlords is influenced by 300, the movie. You get to play as one of two opposing factions: the Hellenic alliance, led by the Spartans, or the Persian Empire. Your aim as the latter is to conquer all of Greece; as the former you must, of course, halt their advance and push them back. The mod has a number of features, which the developer Halie Satanus has chosen to put in spoiler tags here (read only if you do not want to be surprised when playing the mod!). Those features include scripted historical battles and unique characters to name a few. Proceed to the release thread to find out more about the mod, or go to our download section to download it!

Aristeia’s talented team have released a new hero preview recently, featuring Priamos, more commonly known as Priam, last king of Troy, he who sired Hector and Paris, Troy’s bane. «After Menelaus’ marriage to Helen, they had a daughter, Hermione, and two sons, Nicostratus and Plisthenes. After a few years the Trojan prince Paris came to visit Sparta on an embassy from Troy. However, the goddess Aphrodite was plotting to give Helen over to Paris, and made her fall in love with him when she saw him. He managed to kidnap her and steal her away to be his bride in Troy. When Menelaus learnt of this adulterous kidnapping, he went to his brother in Mycenae and together they threatened war against Troy. The Oath of Tyndareus was invoked, and all the great Achaean leaders rallied to the cause of Menelaus’ marriage. When Paris refused to give up Helen, the Achaean army sailed from Aulis in Boeotia to attack Troy.»

‘Troy: Total War – Aristeia’s Zhuge Liang recently displayed one of the hero’s to be featured in his mod, set during the epic Trojan War. Menelaos was the husband of Helen and the king of Sparta, inheriting the crown from Tyndareus, his father-in-law. He is probably the most famous cuckold in history. As the mod is for ‘Rome Total War – Alexander’ each hero can be given a unique model. The team has taken advantage of this feature and given Menelaos a great look with an intricate pattern etched into his armor and shield. RedFox has just released the 1.0 version of ‘Diadochi: Total War’, which provides players with four campaigns: the Imperial Campaign (279 – 146 BC), Wars of the Diadochi (305 – 255 BC), Pyrrhic Wars (279 – 146 BC) and Sons of Mars (328 – 282 BC). The first two campaigns are the most polished, but they all give you a different experience and much gaming fun. Read more about the mod here.

‘Megas Alexandros’ is a modification for ‘Rome: Total War – Alexander’ v1.9 whose aim it is to expand upon and improve the regular ATW campaign. This Open Beta adds one new faction to the existing six, the Kingdoms of India, and an entirely new map. It also adds new music composed by Jones King (read more about his work here), loading screens & other 2d art, additional buildings, and much more. Everyting is contained in a modfolder so it will not interfere with your game files, or other modfoldered mods. For more information go to the release thread.
