S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Cover Art The folks at IGN have managed to get their grubby hands on Ukrainian developer GSC Game World’s latest installment in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, ‘S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat’, and they’ve posted a hands-on article with their impressions and some videos from the game (see below).

‘Call of Pripyat’ is a direct sequel to the first game in the series, ‘Shadow of Chernobyl’ (the second game, ‘Clear Sky’, was a prequel). Pripyat starts after the events of SoC and follows a new protagonist, a character called Major Alexander Degtyarev, sent out by Ukraine’s Security Service to investigate what happened to the helicopters that were sent into the Zone at the end of the original game.

‘S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat’ has already been released in the Commonwealth of Independent States (which is made up of former Soviet Republics), but is not set to release in the rest of the world until Q1 2010. The acronym stands for Scavenger, Trespasser, Adventurer, Loner, Killer, Explorer, Robber. More information about the game can be found on the official website.
