The ‘Operation Black Mesa’ team are recreating ‘Half-Life: Opposing Force’ on the Source engine, and in celebration of that classic game’s ten year anniversary they’ve released a large media update. Concept art, weapon model renders, and screenshots of the map levels previewed are all awaiting you at the mod’s website.

A trailer has been released for ‘TEAR’, a single player modification for ‘Half-Life 2′ set in the fantasy world of Mexiria. The video shows off some fantastic scenes, as well as melee fighting and ranged shooting with a crossbow. Find out more about the mod here.
A new beta, v2.5, has been released for ‘Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat’, a modification for ‘Half-Life 2′. New additions in this version include a spawn protection system, improved morale and scoring systems, numerous bug fixes and updated visuals. A massive media update has been released for ‘GoldenEye: Source’, featuring a new map level (Caverns), information on the code progress on Bullet Penetration and new gameplay modes, screenshots of rolling explosions and the Grenade Launcher, renders showing new animations and props, and a music preview. If you see yourself as a modern Red Baron, or if James Bigglesworth was a childhood favourite, the ‘Dogfight’ mod for ‘Half-Life 2′ should pique your interest. Mod developer Ztormi has recently previewed two fighter aircraft from the mod, the German Pfalz D.III and British Sopwith 1½ Strutter, which you can read more about here.
‘CSS SCI FI 3: Hardwired’ is a single player modification for ‘Counter-Strike: Source’, allowing you to play as an augmented clone of Gordon Freeman through 18 retail and 24 custom CS:S maps. The missions are all non-linear, with secret weapons hidden throughout the maps, allowing for replayability. Find out more on the mod’s website.
A new client patch has been released for ‘Neotokyo’, a futuristic shooter set in Tokyo, Japan. The patch adds seven new maps and changes to several existing ones, new weapons (see above and below) and much more. A demo has been released for ‘Overheid’, a single player modification for ‘Half-Life 2: Episode Two’. You play as a new recruit in the resistance battling your way across City 17 and up the ranks of the movement. The demo features a lot of action, but we are promised exploration, puzzles & an engaging story in the full mod – similar to that of HL2.
